WHEN DaSEAN MADE ME A HSFOOTBALLERMOM,
HIS TEAMMATES RESHAPED MY IDENTITY AS A UNIQUE MOTHER IMMEDIATELY:
I WAS NO LONGER “MS. DARNELLA OR MS. MOORE“, BUT I INSTANTLY BECAME“DaSEAN’S #39’s MOM”
I proudly blush each time one of DaSean’s Westfield HS of Chantilly, VA Bulldog classmates, teammates or neighborhood friends amicably greets me: “Hi DaSean’s Mom.” It took a few times for me to realize that I was no longer being addressed as “Ms. so-in-so,” but instead as DaSean’s Mom. When I finally did recognize my “new name,” and shifted identity, I immediately realized who was the focal person in our household (at least, for the time being) – DaSean, our rising football student-athlete, who is determined to succeed and to WIN! So may I introduce myself to you, DaSean’s football blog family, in my rightful identity…
…Hi there, I’m DaSean’s Mom!
How many of my fellow high school football Moms reading this blog can relate to this? I’m sure many of you. You and I are in a class and club all by ourselves: We are (hashtag) #HSFootballerMoms and proud of it!
You and I are oftentimes just as busy and involved with team agendas as our footballers as their beloved supporters, dedicated drivers, loyal game attendees, participant tutors, busy chefs and on and on and on requiring us to be in great physical shape as much as our student-athletes. I’ve been blessed as a #HSFootballerMom to experience the spirit of teamwork amongst my fellow WHS Bulldog #FootballerMoms who oftentimes work together transporting, feeding and assisting with the needs of our footballers. The world of #HSFootball is truly a world in and of itself. I never thought I would say this as I was never interested in the game of football until DaSean, my only son, was born, but I’m loving the game of football as well as the responsibility of being a #HSFootballerMom that comes along with it! I am an active and involved #HSFootballerMom who is and shall remain my son’s loudest and greatest cheerleader!
